SmARTboard – Educating the Cultural Leaders of Tomorrow

SmARTboard
was developed by United Arts to provide professionals in Central Florida with the skills needed to be a valuable board member of a nonprofit cultural organization.

Have you ever considered how serving on the board of a nonprofit cultural organization enhances your job skills while helping the community? Business professionals like you serve on the boards of hundreds of Central Florida arts and cultural organizations, and many more boards are in need of your services.

SmARTboard
is a hands-on program that educates business professionals on the responsibilities and benefits of serving on a nonprofit board. SmARTboard is comprised of five sessions, at one session per month. The classes are held at local cultural venues in the Central Florida area. This competitive program educates future leaders for board membership by bringing in governance experts and nonprofit cultural leaders who discuss board roles and responsibilities. They will present first-hand accounts of the challenges faced by cultural organizations today. Participants are personally introduced to the wide variety of arts and cultural options in the Central Florida area.

Nonprofit organizations are only as good as their boards; this program will enhance the skills of the participants and enrich the cultural organizations in our community.

The application deadline for the 2010 session of SmARTboard is Monday, Feb 22, 2010.
